Nelson Links Golf Course:  03-548 5029

Par: 72 Length: Blue: 6197m White: 6042m Women: 5414m

Nelson Links is a superbly crafted 18 hole championship golf course that complements the fantastic local coastal scenery. The greens at Nelson Links are some of the best in New Zealand and the course is a fair test for beginners and professionals alike. To play the Nelson Links is a rare delight. One of only seven courses across the country that offer a True Links Experience. The course has been the host of quite a few Championships over the years with the NZ Amateur in 2014, NZ Seniors in 2015 and NZ Junior Championship in 2016.

Held annually is the TSB Nelson Festival of Golf. An awesome, fully attended, four-day event held at the Top 3 Courses in Tasman, the Nelson Links, Green Acres and Motueka with the final round held back at the Nelson Links.

All of the seasons are easily playable here in Nelson. Spring and summer season though is particularly nice in the warm sunshine that Nelson is well known for. Nelson often tops the charts as having the highest sunshine hours in New Zealand at around 2,400 hours per year. Summer highs are around 24 C, and in winter the highs are around 13-14 C.

Club House: The 19th Café & Bar is a fully licensed premises open to both the members and the general public. With fantastic views of the course from a 1st-floor setting overlooking the 18th green, it is the ideal place for a coffee, snack or lunch out with friends. They pride themselves in supporting and using mostly locally grown and regionally made products, with food, wine, and beers sourced from all around Nelson and surrounding areas.

Green Acres Golf Club: 03-544 6441

Par: 72 Length: Blue: 6202m White: 5973m Women: 5339m

Green Acres is a challenging 18 hole course situated on Best Island near Richmond. The course is adjacent to a tidal inlet and so water does come into play on quite a few holes. Most holes are tree-lined and do provide stunning scenery to enjoy on your way around the parkland setting. The Green Acres course is thought to be one of the most demanding in the local area where you can test your skills and your ability, whether you are a novice or a regular seasoned golfer. No steep hills to contend with but many confronting obstructions to maneuver around. The course has some well-placed bunkers and undulating fairways which prove to give many challenging lies which adds to the complication of the course. All in all a good test for any level of golfer.

Green Acres has been named as one of the Top 40 clubs in New Zealand. They have a nice clubhouse and Pro Shop, and good facilities to have a practice.

Motueka Golf Club: 03 528 8998

Par: 72 Length: Men: 5757m Women: 5076m

The Motueka Golf Club was voted Holden Golf Club of the Year in 2018 which proves the pedigree of this course. They are also hosts to quite a few tournaments, for example, the New World Open Masters, Super Liquor Open pairs and the Nelson Building Society Centennial Open. Motueka is a challenging course providing super views of Tasman Bay. Many holes provide tree-lined fairways and so accuracy is paramount to get yourself a good score. The greens are very true and most holes have subtle breaks. The course consists of five par fives, five par threes, and eight par fours. A combination not often found but one that works very well for our course. We have ample practice facilities with putting greens, chipping greens, practice nets, and a driving area. The course has been re-designed and modified over the years to give the discerning golfer a mix of challenging holes. They are easy walking distances from green to tee with the eighteenth green, the clubhouse, Pro shop, car park, and the first tee are all situated close together for the convenience of the golfer.

Waahi Taakaro (MaiTai) Golf Course: 03-548 7301

Par: 71 Length: Blue: 5936m White: 5552m Yellow: 5226m

The course is owned by Nelson City Council and set out on park and reserve land, they are also responsible for maintaining it to a very high standard.

It is playable to a 10-hole layout with two sets of tees on every hole. They provide different views, angles, and distances to make it enjoyable. Two Tees No 9 and No 10 offer challenging opening and closing shots cross the Maitai River. It is wise to play safe as there is either out of bounds or water on every hole. You have to be accurate as the greens require skillful approach shots and are small and to hit.

A real benefit of playing at Maitai is that they are positioned in a valley setting and on a windy day are somewhat sheltered, they also remain green over summer.

Totaradale Golf Club:  03-541 8030

Par 72 Length: Blue 5599m Yellow: 5112m

Totaradale Golf Club is a challenging 5599m course that is enjoyable for many different levels of golfers. The 9 hole course is playable twice with holes 10 and 18 having two different Tee placements which change the dynamics and strategy of playing these holes. There are a few risen Tees on the way round which offer very special views of the local scenery.

The clubhouse is open from 9.00 am onward. There is a small Pro golf store with the usual equipment for sale and snacks & drinks available. The Bar is open most afternoons.
